Valentin G. Martinez

Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 30 at 10 AM at Lindsay Cemetery for Valentin G. Martinez, 76 of Visalia and formerly of Lindsay who passed away December 18. The Reverend Edgar Magana will officiate and interment will follow. Military Honors will be provided by California State Honor Guard. 

Valentin was born February 14, 1944 in Raymondville, Texas to Jose and Genoveva Martinez and after coming to California with his parents, the family  ultimately settled in Lindsay. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era and married Petra Irene Carabay in Fort Hood, Texas. Valentin was self-employed in landscape maintenance for 30 years years and had just retired w/in the last few years. He enjoyed old cars, traveling, was a member of several car clubs in Visalia and was very independent. He loved being busy and on the go, helping others or just sitting and talking with his friends or anyone he sat next to. Valentin was preceded in death by his wife Petra Martinez; sisters Mary Martinez and Margaret Gonzalez and brothers Rudolfo Martinez and Crispin Martinez. He is survived by his daughter Anita Freyre of Visalia; step-sons Tom Dahlenburg of Visalia and Rex Mitchell of Colorado; sisters Esther Martinez of Porterville and Angie Cruz of Lindsay; numerous grandchildren and one great grandchild. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 29 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
