Selia Helen Ruiz

Selia Helen Ruiz, born on September 29, 1937, in Hollister, California, peacefully departed into eternity on January 1, 2025, in Visalia, California, at the age of 87. She was the beloved daughter of Benjamin Gomez and Pauline Segeda.

Helen raised her family in Strathmore, California, where she worked at the Lindsay Olive Plant for 32 years. During her time there, she formed many cherished friendships. In addition to her career, Helen was an active member of the Visalia Lions Club. She enjoyed traveling with the club, especially to Mexico and other exciting destinations. 

Helen had a love for the beach, dining out, and watching baseball--particularly if the Dodgers were playing.

She was a devoted and loving mother to her children: Ray Ruiz of Visalia, Robert Ruiz of Woodland, and Terri Ruiz of Porterville. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Michael Ruiz of Porterville, Summer of Springville, Robin of Tulare, Karla of Woodland, Denise of Sacramento, and Karina of Woodland. Helen was blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Michael, Nathan, Nickolas, Ryan, Ashtyn, Larissa, and Elijah, and one great-great-granddaughter, Delilah.

Helen is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Patty Ruiz, her parents Benjamin Gomez and Pauline Haro, and her two brothers, Robert Segeda and Richard Gomez.

She will be fondly remembered by her family, friends, and all who knew her for her kindness, adventurous spirit, and unwavering love for her family.
