Kathleen Holzwarth Obituary

In loving memory of Kathleen Holzwarth who at age 81 departed this life on November 27, 2021 and
was transported to the loving arms of Jesus, her Lord and Savior.
Kathleen was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on February 13, 1940 as the youngest child of Dick and Goldie
Holzwarth.  She lived in Germany and Japan where her parents were missionaries with the Gideons.  It was
there that she contracted polio and ultimately contracted post-polio syndrome later in life.  She went on to
pursue a California teaching credential at Westmont College in Santa Barbara and after graduating in 1967
began her 27 year career teaching English at Visalia High School. She was greatly admired by parents and
students in the way that she handled her handicap while teaching all those years.  Music was another passion
and she excelled on the keyboard and was part of groups that performed in the Visalia area.  Church services
were an integral part of her life.  She loved to read fiction and was always ready to tell you of her latest
favorite book.  She was always cheerful and had a great sense of humor throughout her life.  During her last
years she was a resident of Lindsay Gardens.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bill, and sister, Phyllis Bensen. She is survived
by her nephew, Daniel Bensen. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by all who had the privilege of
knowing her.
