Joseph Gosvener Obituary

It saddens our hearts to announce the death of our father, Joseph Gideon Gosvener, who passed away peacefully at home in the loving care of his wife, Lynne L. Gosvener.

Joseph, known by friends and family as Joe, was born in Norwood, Missouri on January 8, 1934, to Richard Franklin Gosvener and Gertrude Mahalia Gosvener.  He went to be with our Lord October 22, 2023.

Joseph was born into a large and loving family; he was the eighth child of 13 and youngest of the boys.  At age two, he and his family moved from Norwood, Missouri to California like so many families during the 1930’s looking for a better life because of the Great Depression.  The family settled in Tulare.

After completing his years at Tulare Union High School, he joined the Navy, serving 4-years as Quarter Master on a Sea Plane carrier, and stationed in Hong Kong.

Joseph loved a good laugh and prank.  And there are many great stories he shared with us over the years.  Here a couple of our favourite stories he would tell frequently.  The first is a story whereby he and his older brother Richard, broke into the Blue Moon pool late one night and proceeded to jump off the high dive screaming and naked for the neighbourhood around to hear.  Another story that always brought a good laugh was how he would frequently find ways to keep his sister Clara laughing until she wet her pants.

He met the love of his life, Lynne Louise Frymire in June 1956 and after a very brief courtship, married July 17 of the same year.  They enjoyed 67 years together, sharing five sons, 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.

He leaves behind his wife, Lynne Gosvener, sons Richard Sheldon Gosvener, Kendall Craig Gosvener, Joseph Wayne Gosvener and sister Linda Rabe.  He is preceded in death by sons Brian Lynn Gosvener, David Franklin Gosvener and grandson Kendall Craig Gosvener II.

He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend to all that knew him.  He will be greatly missed.

Joseph Gideon Gosvener, 89, Produce Manager and resident of Lindsay, California passed away on October 22, 2023.
