Joe M. Ruiz, born on March 27, 1937, in Santa Ana, California, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2025, in San Jose, California, at the age of 87. Joe proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army as a teenager, to serve his country. He later found his calling as a truck driver, a career he pursued for over 40 years with dedication and pride. In 1981, Joe moved to the Bay Area with his partner, Carmen Corrales, where they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared memories. A dedicated fan of the San Francisco Giants and the 49ers, Joe could often be found cheering on his teams, wearing his favorite gear, and talking stats with anyone who’d listen. His loyal dog Toby, who passed away just weeks before Joe, was a constant companion and source of comfort in his later years. Joe was a devoted father to Ray Ruiz, Robert Ruiz, and Terri Ruiz, and was preceded in death by his daughter, Patty Ruiz. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren, a great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandfather to one precious great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Susie Ruiz, as well as his siblings Ysidro, Ruben, Peter, Johnny, Seferina, Reyna, Tony, and Cleo. He is survived by his siblings Richard, Lydia, and Martha, who will continue to cherish his memory. Joe will be remembered for his sense of humor, his unwavering loyalty to his family and friends, and his hard-working spirit. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
