James Robison Williams

James “Rob” Williams went to be with the Lord early morning Monday, July 1, 2024, in Visalia, California, with his family in attendance. Rob was born July 23, 1933, in Lindsay, California, to Fred and Helen Williams, and was the second of four sons - Fred, Rob, George, and Tom. He inherited the love of farming from his father, a small farmer, and this was reflected throughout his life in his career at Leffingwell and as a small farmer himself. Rob was a lifelong resident of Lindsay, attending local schools and graduating with the class of 1952 from LHS. He attended COS prior to entering the Army in 1954. He was stationed in Austria and Germany and received his discharge in 1956. In 1959 he started working for Leffingwell Chemical Co where he would spend the next 46 years, making many lifelong friends. After retiring at 72 years old he worked on his grove until the last 6 months of his life, loving every minute of it. For many years Rob could be found on the sidelines of the Lindsay High School home football games as part of the chair crew, a job he started when his son Jim was playing Pop Warner Football. He continued doing chains for 35 years, while Kathryn sat in the stands with friends. He was a long-time member of Lindsay First Baptist Church. In 2011 Rob and Kathryn were astounded and humbled to be selected as Honored Couple for Orange Blossom Festival. Rob was preceded in death by his parents and all three brothers. He is survived by: his wife Kathryn, his sons Jim and Eric and their wives Shelly and Laurie; his grandchildren Colby (Rebecca), Tyler (Brittany), Shauna, Hannah (Danny), and Caitlin (Steven); and his great-grandchildren, Dean (his Go Fish buddy), Owen, Waylon, Sonora Rose, and Lola. Services will be held Friday, July 19th. Military honors will be at 9:00am in the Lindsay cemetery. Celebration of Life at Breakthrough Church (formerly Lindsay First Baptist) at 10:00am. Reception to follow at China’s Alley (Ruben’s Lounge).
