With deep love, we announce that our beautiful mother Gabriela Abarca Roque passed away on May 27, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. With a deep love of Christ and our faith, we celebrate her life. 

Gabriela was born in El Vano, Guerrero, Mexico on March 4, 1959, to Alicia Abarca Reyes and Teodoro Abarca Garcia. Gabriela was the oldest of 11 kids. She fell in love and married Vicente Roque Matias in Tonala, Guerrero, Mexico. They both came to California as newlyweds where Gabriela began to work as a farm laborer and then went to work in local factories. In 1992 Gabriela and Vicente became business owners and opened up a jewelry store, Joyeria La Mexicana in Exeter, CA before moving it to downtown Lindsay, where it remains open today.  

Gabriela was a hard worker and selflessly devoted her life to her family, business, and most importantly faith in God. Gabriela was a member of La Puerta Abierta Church in Lindsay, California, becoming an early member of her church in the 80s and had become a pillar of its enduring ministry. Gabriela was a prayer warrior, always devoting herself to prayers for others and her family. Her enduring faith is her legacy. 

Gabriela was a big adventurer and enjoyed hikes, camping, being in the mountains, and traveling. She loved spending time with her family, and grandkids, and having coffee with her friends. 

Gabriela will be deeply missed, but it's our faith in Jesus Christ that we feel a sense of gratitude to have known her, and to have been loved by Gabriela. Gabriela is being reunited with her husband, Vicente Roque who passed away in 2012, and her daughter Elizabeth Roque who passed in 2018. She is survived by her loving kids Vicente Roque Jr, Jaime Roque, and Jonathan Roque, along with her 7 grandkids, Amanda, Isaac, Rebekah, Elijah, Jeremiah, David, and Selah, and 2 great grandkids, Layla and Noah—along with her brothers, sister, and extended family.

“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High, will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” - Psalms 91. 

Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 15 at 6:30 P.M. at La Puerta Abierta Church and the funeral services will be held on Friday, June 16 at 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM at La Puerta Abierta Church, with a burial to follow at Lindsay Cemetery.

Con profundo amor, comunicamos que nuestra hermosa madre Gabriela Abarca Roque falleció el 27 de mayo de 2023, rodeada de sus seres queridos. Con nuestra fe en Cristo, celebramos su vida.

Gabriela nació en El Vano, Guerrero, México el 4 de marzo de 1959, hija de Alicia Abarca Reyes y Teodoro Abarca García. Gabriela era la mayor de 11 hijos. Gabriela se enamoró y se casó con Vicente Roque Matias en Tonalá, Guerrero, México. Llegaron a California como recién casados, donde Gabriela comenzó a trabajar en los campos, y luego comenzó a trabajar en las fábricas locales. En 1992, Gabriela y Vicente abrieron una joyería, Joyeria La Mexicana en Exeter, antes de mudarla al centro de Lindsay, donde permanece abierta hoy.

Gabriela dedicó su vida a su familia, su negocio y lo más importante, a la fe en Dios. Gabriela era miembra de la iglesia La Puerta Abierta en Lindsay, California, y se convirtió en una de las primeras miembros de la iglesia en los 80 y se convirtió en un pilar de la iglesia. Gabriela era una guerrera de oración, siempre dedicándose a la oración por los demás y su familia. Su fe en Dios es su legado.

Gabriela era una gran aventurera y disfrutaba de las caminatas, ir acampar, estar en las montañas y viajar. Le encantaba pasar tiempo con su familia y sus nietos, y tomar café con sus amigas.

Gabriela será profundamente extrañada, pero es nuestra fe en Jesucristo que sentimos una sensación de gratitud por haberla conocido y haber sido amados por Gabriela. Gabriela se está reuniendo con su esposo, Vicente Roque, quien falleció en 2012, y su hija Elizabeth Roque, quien falleció en 2018. Le sobreviven sus hijos Vicente Roque Jr, Jaime Roque y Jonathan Roque, junto con sus 7 nietos, Amanda, Isaac, Rebekah, Elijah, Jeremiah, David y Selah, y 2 bisnietos, Layla y Noah, junto con sus hermanos, hermana y familia extendida.

Celebración de Vida se llevará a cabo el Jueves 15 de Junio a las 6:30 p.m. en la Iglesia La Puerta Abierta y los servicios fúnebres se llevarán a cabo el Viernes 16 de Junio de 11:00 a.m. a 12:00 p.m. en la Iglesia La Puerta Abierta, seguido de un entierro en el Cementerio Lindsay.
