Dean Milam Obituary

Melvin D. Milam, known as “Dean” to family and friends, passed away peacefully at his home on December 19, 2024.  Dean was born in Exeter, California on December 15, 1939.

Preceded in joining the Lord was his wife, Rachel, his parents Bently Jenkins “BJ” & Iva Milam, his son, Terrell Milam, daughter Sherry Mendivil and grandsons Tallon Fraley & Dason Gonzales

Dean lived in the Strathmore-Lindsay area most of his life.  He graduated from Strathmore High School, where he played on the football team.  He worked at Lindsay Olive Growers for 32 years as a production manager. Dean and his beloved wife, Rachel, loved to travel in their RV to various destinations across the country. They enjoyed life as a couple; wherever it took them. Dean & Rachel were members of Sonlight Christian Fellowship Church in Lindsay.  Additionally, Dean loved boating, water skiing, summer vacations at Bass Lake, fishing, hunting, tinkering with mechanical things and attending Strathmore Spartans High School football games. His biggest joy in life was his dedication and love for his wife, children, grandchild and great-grandchildren.

Dean is survived by his daughter, Lorrie Milam Peer, Terrie Saenz and her husband Richard, son Jeremy Milam and his wife Christine, Larry Mendivil and his wife Marla, and Richard Mendivil. Additionally, his sisters, Dana Crews (David), and Dianne Hefner (Jerry). He also has 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, at 11 am.
