Petra H Torres

     The Holy Rosary was prayed on Thursday, December 20 at 6:00 PM at Webb Sanders & Smith Funeral Home and Mass of Christian Burial was said on Friday, December 21 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Petra H. Torres, 87 of Lindsay who passed away December 10. The Reverend Kenneth Bozzo will officiate and interment will follow the Mass at Lindsay Cemetery. Petra was born October 23, 1931 in Pharr, Texas to Severiano and Maria Hernandez and was raised and attended local schools there. She married Roberto Torres there in February of 1954 and they moved to California as a family, some years later. She worked in several packing houses in and around Lindsay for many years. Both in citrus and in olives. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and being with her family, and was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Church here in Lindsay. Petra was preceded in death by her beloved husband Roberto R. Tor-res, just four months ago; three grandsons and two sisters. She is survived by her children Mary Montoya of Porterville; Dora Gutierrez of Texas; Cristela Velasquez of Lindsay; Belen Sanchez of Porterville and Rosie Torres of Texas and Roberto Torres Jr. of Lindsay; her brother Augustin Hernandez of Texas as well as 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild and nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 20 from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM. at the funeral home. Webb Sanders & Smith Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
