Michael Louis Rios, 65 years of Lindsay, CA passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2019 in Visalia, California. Michael was born March 23, 1954 in Lindsay, CA. At a very young age, the family moved first to Pasadena, California, and later settled in Santa Clara, California, where Mike received his formal education. Michael graduated from Wilcox High School where he playedfootball until he sustained a major concussion and was no longer able to participate.
In 1977 Mike returned to Lindsay. He met the love of his life, Rita. They recently celebrated 36 years of marriage. Mike and Rita welcomed their first daughter, Melissa and three years later to the day, they were joined by Amanda. Mike was also “dad” to Arriana, who spent her earlyyears as “little sister” to Melissa and Amanda. Mike’s home was always a welcoming place and many of the girl’s friends spent many hours visiting with Mike and Rita.
Mike was employed as a press operator at Standard Register in Porterville until their closure in 2001. Thereafter, and until his passing, Mike worked as a handyman, completing many projects both large and small. Mike had many hobbies including maintaining a beautiful yard, his Koi pond and creating beautiful planters utilizing succulents and specially selected driftwood and rocks succulents. In his earlier years Mike played softball with a team known as the “Rock and Roll”. Mike enjoyed all sports but mostly following the Warriors and was a tried and true, thickand thin die-hard Raider fan.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Albert Rios. In addition to his wife and daughters, Mike is survived by his two grandpups, Gigi and Bella: his mother, Margaret Kovatch and stepfather, Julius; brothers Albert Jr.. David, Steven (Liz), and Arthur (Anna). Mike is survived by numerous several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. numerous cousins and countless“best” friends. Mike will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
